We have 5 different species of wood to choose from here at American Wood Products: Apple, Black Cherry, Hickory, Maple, and White Oak. Each species adds a unique flavor and style to your meat.

 

Apple - Very mild in flavor and adds sweetness to food. This is a good selection for poultry and pork.

 

Black Cherry - Sweet, mild flavor that goes great with almost everything. This is one of the most popular woods for smoking.

 

Hickory - provides a strong, smokey flavor, so make sure not to overdo it with this one. It’s good with beef and lamb.

 

Maple - Like fruit wood, this adds a mild and sweet flavor to your food. Goes great with ham and poultry.

 

White Oak - Strong, but not overpowering, and very versatile. Beef and lamb are a good choice for this wood.
